Managed to get across he border fine thanks to Rubin- the guide we picked up at the border. Well worth the 15$ we paid him. Lots of electronics glitches getting to out hotel in David. Apparently the GPS coordinated U plugged into Garmin from the page on Bookings was wrong. WAZE did better, but kept losing the network. Midday traffic here was every bit as bad as in San Jose, and the streets show no markings. We found ourselves the wrong way on one way streets at least twice. Luckily we managed to find the hotel. The room is nice, but nothing special. We were able to connect up with Joel Cunningham, whose wife I found on one of the panama blog sites. Oddly enough we literally intersected paths as she was biking West to Costa Rica as we were going East into Panama. After getting new phone cards here I tried to call him on my phone. Total failure it said it was dialing but nothing happened. Martha's phone was successful. I thinks its time to replace the phone! Ive had nothing but problems with it. Ate at a great Restaurant called El Fogon.Had some of the best rotisserie chicken yet! The biggest downer here was the heat and humidity. Its as bad as Florida. |
